Jessie May Smart is a dynamic violinist and songwriter, performing across London, the UK, and internationally. Classically trained at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, the University of Nottingham, and Trinity College of Music, she brings a versatile approach to her craft, effortlessly spanning classical, jazz, folk, country, pop, and contemporary styles. A skilled improviser, Jessie thrives in both structured and spontaneous musical settings.

Jessie has toured extensively as a violinist and backing vocalist with renowned artists, including Elbow, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Katie Melua. She is also highly experienced in musical theatre, having performed on the West End hit Wicked and numerous award-winning Off West End productions.

Jessie’s electric string quartet, Vesper, has quickly gained recognition, recently performing with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Beverley Knight, Nile Rodgers (Chic), and Emeli Sandé at the Royal Festival Hall for a landmark Eurythmics concert.
A sought-after session musician, Jessie’s credits span multiple genres. Her passion for improvisation led her to create Creative Session Strings, a collective of elite string players collaborating on innovative projects and recordings. Established in 2016, her home studio enables her to deliver high-quality remote string sessions for artists and composers worldwide.
